⦁ CAD CAM Digital Crowns and Bridges
Premier Dental Center, we don’t just use CBCT scans to make our dental implant procedures go smoothly. We also use CAD/CAM technology to custom-make your new restorations right here in our office!
Here’s what our dental implant dentist wants you to know about how we use CAD/CAM technology in our dental procedures.
What Is CAD/CAM Dentistry?
CAD stands for “computer-assisted design,” while CAM stands for “computer-aided manufacturing.” Together, these technologies allow our implant dentist to construct dental restorations like crowns, bridges, and dental implants in-office.
CAD/CAM technology involves the use of an intraoral scanner to create 3D models of the inside of your mouth. These models are more accurate than X-rays alone, and can tell us everything we need to know in order to restore your smile. We then use these models to create custom dental restorations such as implants, crowns, and dental bridges.
Using CAD/CAM, we can design and create your custom restorations in our office instead of sending impressions of your teeth off to a lab. That way, instead of waiting weeks or even months until your restoration can be fitted, you can leave our office with a brand-new smile in just one day.
CAD/CAM and Our Office
At Premier Dental Center, we use CAD/CAM technology to create accurate restorations. First, we’ll prepare your mouth for the upcoming procedure. This may include filing down the adjacent teeth, in the case of dental bridges, or evaluating the site in the case of dental implants.
Then we use an intraoral scanner to take a digital impression of your teeth. Unlike other offices, you won’t have to bite down on dental putty in order for us to make an accurate model of your mouth. The scanner allows us to see more details in much less time, which ultimately results in a more accurate treatment plan. This step allows us to see any potential difficulties or complications before we even begin your dental procedure.
Next, we’ll use this technology to create a custom restoration that fits your smile. We custom-mill the posts and abutments right here in our office so you can leave with a completed dental restoration in just one appointment. Many other dental offices require you to wear a temporary restoration while you wait for your permanent crown or bridge to be made in a lab. CAD/CAM technology eliminates this inconvenient step for our patients.
Finally, your restoration will be permanently secured in your mouth and you’ll be good to go! Once your mouth heals, you should experience no discomfort and can expect to eat and speak normally again. Whether you’re getting crowns or bridges, you can rest assured that the latest technology is being put to work for you.
At Premier Dental Center, our Troy, MI implant dentist is dedicated to helping you improve the health and appearance of your smile. We offer dental implants, bridges, and other options to replace missing teeth.
